Nutty French Toast

ALMOND AND APRICOT COOKIES

Who doesn't like a good French Toast breakfast. It's quick, easy and oh so yum!  This Nutty French Toast recipe adds a little nuttiness to this good old rise-and-shine breakfast favourite with a hazel nut crust. Served with honey, cream, fruit, nuts and biltong it is a perfect breakfast spoil for dad this Father's Day.

Ingredients:

White Bread unsliced
MONTAGU SNACKS Hazelnuts 50g
Eggs 2 large
Milk 1 tablespoon
Salt pinch
Butter 1 tablespoon

MONTAGU Biltong
MONTAGU Hazelnuts
MONTAGU Cashew Nuts

For Serving:
Castor Sugar

Cinnamon
Honey
Strawberries
Cream

Method:

  1. Cut three 2cm thick slices from the white bread, remove the crusts and cut into 2cm wide strips.
  2. Blitz the hazelnuts until fine, being careful not to overdo it as you don’t want to end up with hazelnut butter.
  3. Place in a bowl with the eggs, milk and salt and mix with a fork until well combined.
  4. Add the butter into a non-stick frying pan on a medium to high heat.
  5. Dip the bread strips into the egg mix and coat each side, gently shake off any excess egg, and place in the hot frying pan.
  6. Cook for a few minutes on each side until golden then remove and place on a sheet of paper towel to absorb any excess butter.
  7. Sprinkle with castor sugar and cinnamon and enjoy with biltong, hazelnuts, cashew nuts, honey, whipped cream, and strawberries.
