Nutty French Toast

Who doesn't like a good French Toast breakfast. It's quick, easy and oh so yum! This Nutty French Toast recipe adds a little nuttiness to this good old rise-and-shine breakfast favourite with a hazel nut crust. Served with honey, cream, fruit, nuts and biltong it is a perfect breakfast spoil for dad this Father's Day.
Ingredients:
White Bread unsliced
MONTAGU SNACKS Hazelnuts 50g
Eggs 2 large
Milk 1 tablespoon
Salt pinch
Butter 1 tablespoon
MONTAGU Biltong
MONTAGU Hazelnuts
MONTAGU Cashew Nuts
For Serving:
Castor Sugar
Cinnamon
Honey
Strawberries
Cream

Method:
- Cut three 2cm thick slices from the white bread, remove the crusts and cut into 2cm wide strips.
- Blitz the hazelnuts until fine, being careful not to overdo it as you don’t want to end up with hazelnut butter.
- Place in a bowl with the eggs, milk and salt and mix with a fork until well combined.
- Add the butter into a non-stick frying pan on a medium to high heat.
- Dip the bread strips into the egg mix and coat each side, gently shake off any excess egg, and place in the hot frying pan.
- Cook for a few minutes on each side until golden then remove and place on a sheet of paper towel to absorb any excess butter.
- Sprinkle with castor sugar and cinnamon and enjoy with biltong, hazelnuts, cashew nuts, honey, whipped cream, and strawberries.
