Don't know what to do this holiday? well, as always Montagu Snacks is here with tips for everyday!

Baking with the kids

Sensory play

No-cook play dough recipe

· 2 cups plain flour
· 2 tablespoons vegetable oil or coconut oil
· 1/2 cup salt
· 2 tablespoons cream of tartar
· 1 to 1.5 cups boiling water (adding in increments until it feels just right)
· Few drops Gel food colouring
· Few drops Glycerine

· 1/4 tsp Borax Powder {found in laundry detergent aisle}.
· 1/2 cup Clear or White Washable PVA School Glue
· 1 cup of Water divided into 1/2 cups
· Food Colouring, Glitter (Optional)
STEP 1: Dissolve 1/4 teaspoon of borax powder into 1/2 cup of warm water in one of three bowls. Mix this thoroughly.
STEP 2: In the second bowl, measure out half a cup clear glue and mix well with half a cup of water
STEP 3: Pour Borax / Water mixture into the Glue / water mixture and stir-stir-stir. You can knead the mixture until it is smooth and stretchy. For a more putty-like slime, add more borax.
- DIY projects and crafts with recyclable items around the house
- Make your own paint by colouring water and freezing it in ice trays. Add Popsicle sticks to it and freeze.
- Home-made pottery with Salt Dough. And the recipe is so easy!

Recipe for salt dough

· 1 cup of salt
· 1/2 of flour
· 1/4 cup of water, adding 1 tablespoon at a time until it’s smooth.
After the craft has been moulded or shaped, Bake the Salt Dough at 275 until solid

Outdoor play

- Have a picnic outside
- Build a ford. Rule of thumb here… Go big or go home!
- Washable Chalk Hop-Scotch
- Got a hoola-hoop and soccer ball? Great, you can play baseball! Fasten the hoola hoop to a pole in actual fact, anywhere you can and voila!
- Backyard campout
- Lifesize games

Family game time

- Charades. There are amazing and fun Charade Apps to download and play with the entire family.
- Game night. Nothing beats a great evening with the family around a fun board game.
- 20 Questions. One person gets to think of an item or object, without saying what it is. The others must then ask only ‘Yes or No’ questions to try and figure out what it is. You get 20 questions to figure it out!

Down time

- Movie night. Mom, get the popcorn popping, make a massive Christmas-bed on the floor in front of the TV, close the curtains and get a family movie going.
- Bedtime Yoga. A fun way to unwind and relax and get into a calm state of mind before bedtime.
- Personal time. Personal time is a great way to give each member of the family his or her own time to relax and not be in the consistent presence of others.

Backyard games from way back then

- Hide and Seek
- Talk through a String Phone. Thread one end of string through the bottom of each cup. Place a paperclip or toothpick in the bottom of each cup and tie the loose end of the string around it (the clip or pick is just here to keep the string from slipping through the bottom of the cup). Give one cup to your conversation partner and hold one yourself.
- Scavenger Hunt
- Teach the kids to play easy card-games like snap!
- Marbles
- Pitch n Toss. Players choose a place to aim, normally a wall, and whoever throws their coin the closest to the mark wins that round.
- Twister

We hope that these fun activities will keep the troopers busy this holiday! We would love to hear from you, so share your ideas with us on Social Media and tag us. Remember to enjoy the time spent with family and stay safe!
